Double X-ray

Sometimes you look at a photograph and wonder just how that could have been done. Here’s an example from the Science Photo Library.  Below is a colored x-ray of a full term fetus (9 months old) inside a woman’s abdomen.

They obviously added color filters to make this double x-ray more dramatic.

More importantly you ask why this was done.  You will notice the baby in is a breech position.  Apparently special x-rays can determine the baby’s exact position and measure the pelvis to help decide if a vaginal delivery may be attempted.
