Striking Emerald Tree Boa

Amazing photo by Thierry Montford represented by Biophotos.com  To get the shot he had to provoke the snake with simple hand movement close enough to get it to strike.  The trick was to withdraw his “bait” hand as quickly as possible, while activating the shutter with his other hand.   Although the emerald tree boa is not venomous, the adult’s bit is painful and can cause deep wounds, as evidenced by the fangs on the boa shown here.

What a way to make a living.
