Anna’s 88 is a butterfly in wet tropical forests in Central and South America. On rare occasions, it can be found as a stray in south Texas. Its upper side is dark brown with a metallic bluish-green band on the forewings.
The underside of the hind wings is white, with lines that approximate a black-outlined “88,” giving the species its common name.
Anna’s 88 often frequent human dwellings, and are considered a sign of good luck by some communities.
